Marti Freyer

As an ex-gymnast and athlete, Marti was first inspired to try yoga as a way to support and heal long-held injuries and patterns in her body. She first began practicing the 26&2 Hot series when she was in her early 20s and fell in love with the effects she felt from that practice. Craving movements that she was more familiar with from her gymnastics background (handstands!!) she eventually transitioned to practicing Vinyasa yoga primarily, and was inspired to complete her first 200hr YTT in 2016, under her teacher, Heather Otterbine, in Alignment-based Vinyasa yoga. Upon completion of her first certification, Marti moved to the Big Island of Hawai’i, where she taught yoga at a spiritual retreat center. Eventually making her way back to the mainland, Marti furthered her yoga education by becoming certified in Trauma-Informed Yoga under Hala Khouri, RW Alves, and Kyra Haglund in Santa Monica. In 2018, Marti found herself in Jackson, WY where she began teaching and practicing at Inversion. In the spring of 2019, she completed her second 200hr YTT in the 26&2 Hot series at Inversion, under the teachings of Brandy Lyn, Riji Suh, and Christopher Totaro. Marti considers herself a life-long student of the 26&2 Hot yoga series, and is forever inspired by the depth of knowledge held in that series.

Currently, Marti is working on her 500hr Pilates certification through Whole Body Pilates. You can find her teaching the 26&2 Hot series at Inversion, apprentice-teaching Pilates classes, and occasionally subbing in to teach Vinyasa and Hot Fusion. Marti also offers private yoga instruction with focus on the 26&2 series.

Marti has participated in several small trainings over the years, including: Yoga for Social Justice with Hala Khouri, Kyra Haglund, and RW Alves; Modifications for 26&2 Postures with Gianna Purcell; and Yin Yoga with Paulie Zink (the founder of Yin yoga).

Marti holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and is fascinated with the mind/body connection, and the psychological effects of yoga.
